Yes, half the menu is gluten-free (anything without roti, also don't order the Deen's Doubles)
Summer!
Pretty soon I'd think? weather is getting good already! so not long now i give it a couple of weeks!!
No they don't but they do have a curried shrimp roti :) 🦐
For sure they're closed on Mondays. I submitted an edit to fix that. The rest of the hours should be fine.
Love this place. Great food. Rotti is awesome. In the summer, live band on the patio.
Excellent doubles! Gluten free if you order ahead
Nice atmosphere good food
I have gone here a few different times, first thing, when it's supposed to open, and every time I went, it was never open. The last time I went, I called the day before to make sure they were going to open when they were supposed to be. The guy said it would be, but it wasn't. Don't waste your time like I did driving to St. Boniface 3xs for nothing. Go downtown to Famena's for real roti. Parking is free at 530pm Mon-Sat.
Friendly people good food and live entertainment on Saturday evenings
A small place with no decor, but the food is good! Love the rotis!
Amazing place of work, amazing place to eat! Live bands Fridays and Saturdays on the patio. Cheap food, amazing quality. Love this place!
Homemade and delicious! Deen's Doubles are a true delight! Also, Deen's Favorite Roti is loaded with big chunks of juicy curry chicken and big tender shrimps, yum! Fresh cut fries are so crispy and soft at the same time. Love this place!!
Owner is incredibly nice. Food is great!
Fantastic service!! Very quaint place but we were a group of 10 and they accommodate us No Problem. First time I had Caribbean food, it was great and the prices can't be beat!!
Great tasty jerk chicken
Fantastic food! Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Great band on July 29th... They rocked it!
Had jerk chicken rice and peas tasted like it came out from the microwave..
Fun place, live music.
LOVE the Roti. Can not get enough.
Very clean place I'll give you that great job cleanliness. i just tried the goat and it was tuff no flavor and tasted like it was microwaved out of a fridge then I tried the jerk chicken and rice and beans I'm must say that meal was one of the worst i have ever had this is very unfortunate I know you guys can cook better so please do it better .
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Can't wait to go back.
We go there often, usually ordering the same thing. Wife usually gets the goat and rice, and I the goat roti. They also have Caribbean drinks such as ginger beer, and they're licensed, so they serve alcohol.During the summer they have a patio open beside the restaurant, with a stage for live music. This is probably the best West Indian restaurant in town, the owner hails from Trinidad and Tobago.
Bridging the gap between the Caribbean and awesome.
A classic "local" restaurant untouched by modern design. This restaurant is perfect for your roti cravings. The beef is by far my favorite with huge thick pieces of beef marinated in classic Jamaican spices. Depending on when you go the staff may be the elderly cook who has few words but is quick and efficient. The younger staff is a little more chatty but only if you want them to be. Local event posters hang in the front entrance and the hand penned "back in 10 minutes" signs hanging by the front door make me feel like I'm in a much smaller city.
Get the Dean's Favourite Roti and homemade fries with an Appleton's Rum while a live band is playing on a Friday or Saturday night during the summer. You can thank me later!
Excellent portion to price ratio 👌
Went there at the posted opening time. It wasn't open. So I called. Person answered and said "uh yeah, we are supposed to be open, but I had a Late night. Come back in maybe 30 min." If you are an establishment with posted hours - be open at those hours! Then we ordered...food was subpar. Very disappointing. The food is a very watered down version of traditional West Indian cuisine. This is not the best Carribean restaurant in Winnipeg by a long shot.
Simple menu fantastic food. Been going there since i was a kid. Cant go wrong with an order of doubles and a rotti
Fun entertainment and atmosphere, outside and live music in the summer. Good was good and very affordable
I live out of province and have only been to this restaurant once years ago when I was maybe 20, but I will always remember the kindness and hospitality of the owner and his son. I stopped in during their slow time, so the owner sat with me and we chatted for quite some time. He learned that I was in town for my mother's funeral and was very sympathic. As I was getting ready to leave, he insisted that his son drive me to the hotel I was staying at on the other side of town. The food was amazing, the service was extraordinary. Thank you and your son so much for your kindness.
Amazing Jerk Chicken and Roti, very nice inside especially the hand painted walls. The service is very friendly and the food matches up to the best quality :)
Hidden gem in the heart of St.Bgreat curry food!! Nice people. Definitely recommend.
Always great food and friendly faces!
Food was good. Service was friendly. I'm not an expert on Caribbean food. I didn't order the roti which I think is more their specialty?.Had the jerk chicken and the goat and rice. The entrees include greens which isn't mentioned in the menu. The jerk was better here than at other places I've tried. I'm not a huge fan of jerk normally but it was ok here. (My friend wanted it)Will have to come back to get a better review. I had been here years ago when I did all the restaurants in the back of the ciao magazine.
We absolute love coming here. The doubles and curry chickpeas are by far the best we've ever had.
Stopped in when I heard the band playing, stayed for the food. Stayed because the atmosphere of the band on the patio was perfect.
Run down but the food is still great.
Great staff. The roti here is so good! Grrat bands and patio. A summer must!
Lots of food and drinks. Great outdoor patio with live bands Friday and Saturday evenings.
Absolutely amazing food and great service. The menu is authentic Caribbean and the food is bursting with flavors. A hidden gem. Tried Jamaican patties and Jerk Chicken. I have to say that these were better than the ones I have had in Jamaica. Good parking spots across the street. Ample free parking. It's a must try in Winnipeg. The patio seems very nice, could not try due to rainy weather.
Amazing food and service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Was wonderful as usual!
Nice people that can't cook carribeam food to well. You shouldn't have to use salt...everything seemed to bland..
As any Trini would immediately know, what they try to pass off as "roti" isn't close to the real thing ... wrong colour, too small and no split pea! The Doubles were just ok but flavorless. Won't be going back, sadly. 😞
A taste of the Caribbean! We went for lunch today after been there over 10 years ago, and everything was delicious. Both the jerk chicken n rice and the chicken roti were flavorful and filling. Service was friendly and quick and the washrooms were clean. Definitely a must try! Again and again...
Fantastic food as always
The chicken roti is amazing. Moist white meat chicken, potatoes and delicious sauce. Yum!
AMAZING FOOD. Tastes like homemade love with wonderful flavors. The owners are very kind and sweet.
Food is great and seems much like being in the Caribbean atmosphere. Love the bands!!
